“Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society” Mark Twain Part One- The Idea Your clothes represent the person you are. It represents your character, attitude and what you believe in. When I was growing up my father always told me, “Old stuff is always made better than new stuff nowadays”. When I thought about it I questioned myself to try to understand what he said. Did he mean its quality is always better or did he mean the old stuff would always be a classic? I think he meant both. I soon realized that Traditional East Coast Clothing American Clothing never changed. Part Two- My Wardrobe My clothing may be a little dressier than most but fashion is different for everyone. For some getting dressed for day may consist of wearing jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. A casual day for me consist of Sperry Top Siders, Chinos and a classic sweater. It’s a way to express what I want to be for the day. When I go to class at nine in the morning its not the outfit I would wear later on in the day or to date. I understand the concept of dressing comfortable (Nike Sweatpants). When I put on the clothes I want to wear I’m ultimately asking myself- Where I am going? , Who is going to be there? Will it be acceptable to dress a certain? Part Three- Rules of “Dressing the Part” Buy the Classics Buy clothes that fit properly- if you’re a medium do not buy a shirt that you can swim in. It looks foolish and tacky. Buying a high quality item most likely means you will not have to buy four of them. It means that one item will last longer, not change sizes in the wash and can be worn for decades to come. Look for sales – Sales can be found at the back of the store or by looking for an online discount code on Google. Take Care your clothes What is Traditional East Coast Clothing American Clothing?
